Hello Westerners:

It's been a while since our last newsletter... about two years if memory (?) serves. This e-mail information from Gary Milburn (LHS '60) has been circulating around to several classes and Gary has asked me to contact the Class of 1958 and others. So here goes!

Subject: Birthday card campaign for Coach Jerry Crawford's 90th birthday on September 23rd

To the Westerners from different LHS Classes, I wanted to make sure you had the opportunity to be a part of the "birthday card campaign” which I thought it would be a great gesture if we could have at least 90 students from our classes send him a snail mail (US. mail) birthday card. I have contacted "reunion leaders" for the classes of "61, "60, "59, and "58. and I'm trying to reach individuals in the classes of "62 and "65

Please help us reach at least 90 cards for Coach Crawford. If you receive another notice or request after you receive this, please disregard it. Only reply to one. I am trying to keep a "tally" and I really need your help. I have approximately 55 individuals who have already committed to send a card.

I hope you remember Jerry Crawford from our days at LHS. During our time (the class of 60), Jerry Crawford was the Student Council Director and Audio Visual Coordinator. Before and after our tenure, he was a coach, teacher, assistant principal, and principal. I have renewed my friendship with Coach Crawford the past three years as my brother and I worked on our "Central Ward and Carroll Thompson Pictorial Book". He and his lovely wife Martha are just delightful.

Please respond back to me (Gary Milburn) if you are willing to send Coach a card for his 90th birthday. If you do not have a birthday card, just write a note and a remembrances or congratulations. Pass this on to others if you think they will join the "mail in".

We have a short time to get the word out and for former students to commit back that they will send a card by U.S. mail. Remember to mail before September 23.

Coach Crawford's address is:
Jerry Crawford
6212 Knoxville Dr.
Lubbock, TX 79413

PLEASE respond back to me ... Gary Milburn at Notoegbm@aol.com.

Thank you for your support.
